URBAN MOBILITY MAPPING

Analysis on access to public transportation is very binary. Results show good or bad areas of access and all bus stops area treated with equal weight.  This analysis uses the custom toolset "BetterBusBuffers" in tandem with the Network Analyst extension of ArcMap to paint a more nuanced picture of access to public transportation in Denver.

"BetterBusBuffers" allows an analyst to input current transportation schedule files to determine transit frequencies at each stop in the system for different times of the day. Meanwhile, a network system of street segments determines walkability buffers by both walking time and route.

Performing geospatial analysis with these tools lets planners better understand the intricacies of urban mobility issues in their community.
