GIS is a tool that helps to improve our communities - at all scales - by understanding and analyzing the spatial world around us. Ever since my first GIS class over 10 years ago, GIS and thinking spatially have been a part of my daily life.  While my career started with basic data entry and digitizing, in more recent years, I have taken a more critical approach by using GIS hand in hand with theories of urban planning and geography. I have also realized that success in GIS is more that just knowing a single computer program. It also includes an awareness to database management tools, new technologies for effectively distributing spatial information, and sharing resources.       

 

Drawing from a range of job experiences and projects, this portfolio highlights several projects where I have used GIS and supporting software applications to create, improve, and share geographic information.
